Tennessee Department of Agriculture Interns visit WGC Cavender

On Thursday, July 17, 2025, Summer Interns from the Tennessee Department of Agriculture made a trip to Shelbyville, Tennessee, to meet the 2024 Tennessee Walking Horse World Grand Champion, Cavender. As always, Cavender was eager to meet new people. The group met at EquiKnox Farms where they learned more about the Walking Horse Industry and then traveled to the Celebration to see the facility.

SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. — The 87th Annual Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration, set for August 20–30, 2025, in Shelbyville, will feature more than 1,300 horses comprising 2,456 entries. While this marks a slight decline of 80 entries — approximately 3% — from last year, organizers say interest remains strong.
