Obituary – Edgar Roy “Bubba” Keeton
Thursday, April 23, 2026

Edgar Roy “Bubba” Keeton, 86, of Shelbyville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2026.
Bubba lived a life that was uniquely his own—one filled with simple joys, familiar routines, and a spirit that those who knew him understood without the need for words. Though nonverbal, Bubba had his own way of communicating, using self-created signs, little words, and expressions that became his language. His family will forever miss his “B B B B,” his determined “mine/my,” and the way he would blow raspberries on his hand when he was happy.
He loved animals, going for rides, flipping through magazines, and sitting with his pipe—things that brought him comfort and contentment throughout his life.
Bubba was preceded in death by his parents, Robbie and Lawrence Keeton; his sisters, Judy (Vernon) Pierce, Betty (Marion) Leonard, and Robbie Keeton.
He is survived by his loving nieces and nephews, Carrie (Spencer) Benedict, Chris (Michelle) Leonard, Felicia (Jim) Donnelly, and Candy Crosno; and his great-nieces and nephews, Austin (Heatherly) Benedict, Carson (Kamerin) Leonard, Emma Leonard, Carmen Harper, and Ian Crosno.
Bubba’s life was shaped by the care and devotion of those who loved him. Over the years, he was faithfully supported by family members who stepped into the role of caregiver, including his sister Robbie, and later his sister Judy and her husband Vernon, as well as others who were an important part of his daily life and care. Their love and commitment allowed Bubba to live a life surrounded by familiarity, consistency, and compassion.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Skills Development in Shelbyville, the caring community at Ransom Church—especially special friends Pat and Jennifer Black—and the compassionate team at Alive Hospice for the comfort and dignity they provided in his final days.
Bubba’s life may not have followed a traditional path, but it was one filled with love, care, and meaningful connections. He will be remembered for the quiet joy he brought to those around him and the way he was deeply known and loved.
No services are planned. Bubba will be cremated.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ransom Church or Skills Development in Shelbyville, Tennessee.
